The Industry Challenge

Almost 50% of fruits and vegetables produced across sub-Saharan Africa are lost every year. 40% of roots. 20% of cereals. The loss happens between harvest and consumer — produce that was grown, tended, picked, and then simply ran out of time before it reached anyone who wanted it.

The problem is not that the food wasn’t grown. It is that no one found a way to make it shelf-stable.

Business & Origins

Agromyx found that way: dehydration and powder processing.

The bizi works directly with Ghanaian smallholder farmers, buying their tomatoes, black velvet tamarind, baobab, mango, fonio, and brown rice at harvest — when supply is high and prices are low — and converts them into powders and instant meal products. The result is a perishable product with a shelf life. Something that can be stored, distributed, and consumed months after harvest rather than days.

Its fonio flakes are now available on Amazon globally. The domestic market in Ghana — Accra and beyond — is growing.
