The Industry Challenge
Eastern Uganda has 11 million chickens, 2.6 million goats, 2.5 million cattle, 400,000 sheep, 700,000 pigs, and more. Livestock constitutes 3.8% of Uganda’s entire GDP. The smallholder farmers raising those animals need affordable, quality veterinary products and nutrition inputs to keep them healthy.
What they often get instead is a long journey to a distant agrovet shop, inconsistent stock, and prices that assume they are a problem to be serviced rather than a customer to be served.
Business & Origins
Afrihealth was built on the same insight that Ziweto Enterprise applied to Malawi — applied now to Eastern Uganda, which has a significantly larger livestock population and less developed agrovet coverage.
The bizi operates a network of hundreds of local agrovet shops across Eastern Uganda, distributing quality veterinary and animal nutrition products to smallholder livestock farmers at prices and locations that make them accessible.
